About Me

Welcome!

This is my seventh year at Chapel Street Elementary School and my third year teaching fifth grade. Prior to the start of my teaching career, I worked in Human Resources. I graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management and received my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Sacred Heart University in 2010.  Before coming to Chapel, I worked in Shelton as a Special Education Tutor and a Reading Assistant. I taught small groups of students from kindergarten through sixth grade in all subject areas but, my favorite subject to teach is reading.  When I first came to Chapel, I worked as a Reading Tutor. I then served two long term substitute positions in first and second grade. I also taught sixth grade prior to settling in fifth grade. My time in sixth grade proved very beneficial as it provided me with hands on knowledge and insight to help prepare students for next year.

I also enjoy reading in my spare time. My favorite genre is historical fiction. Some of my other hobbies include exercising, ice skating and cooking. I especially like to cook from “scratch”.  My family loves when I prepare old recipes that have been handed down from past generations of my family.  I am married to my husband, Michael and we have two wonderful children. My daughter, Sara, is a senior at Sacred Heart University and my son, Ryan, is a freshman at Sacred Heart University.  We also have two pets, a dog named Toby and a cat named Tulip. I absolutely love teaching at Chapel! The staff is friendly and works well together. The fifth grade team works closely together as well. I am looking forward to an exciting and memorable year!
