Room 8- Chapel Street School

If you need to reach me I am usually available at school after 7:30 a.m. and until at least 3:45 p.m. after school. The school phone number is 203-385-4192. You may also reach me by email which is checked several times daily at kutashk@stratfordk12.org

Homework is assigned daily, Monday through Thursday, in Spelling and in Math. Spelling tests are the last day of the week and often on a Friday there will be a vocabulary quiz. When we start Weekly Geography assignments they will be due on or BEFORE Friday. There will be a Geography test after every fifth geography assignment (after #5, #10, #15, etc.)

Please check your child's "Home folder" for the Weekly Homework Assignment Sheet to verify what is assigned for each night.  Please supervise that your child completes the assigned homework and has read and followed directions.  PLEASE DO NOT DO THE HOMEWORK FOR YOUR CHILD.  If you find mistakes, have the child look for them: "Honey, you made three mistakes in the top part of the this worksheet, find and correct them."  All homework is based on lessons taught in school and your child should be independent with minimal parent support when completing them.

Reading at home is an extension of the scheduled homework time.  Thirty minutes of independent reading time is expected DAILY including weekends. NIghtly reading does NOT need to be recorded or signed off on..it is a habit that should be a part of the nightly routine.  Instead, each child has a monthly reading log that is kept in the "HOME FOLDER". On the day a book is finished, record the title, author, total number of pages in the book and the genre.  Reading logs are collected on the first school day of the new month when new ones are distributed. Books that are read in school or at home should be recorded.
